Message from New Multiple President……

History is repeating : Bigger !

Dear Leos ,

Please share this message with all the leos. Please provide me ideas how to develop the leo movement.

Dear Leos, Lions Parents and Friends,

Four years ago , I had a dream. To develop a leo district where we have youth empowered with leadership. We have leaders with a vision and strategy to make the baby district 306 A2, a strong and sustaining one. Those days were challenging, but my efforts are bearing fruit. Today i am witnessing the growth, success and maturity of district 306 A2.

The history has repeated, in a bigger level. Today I am looking forward to become the multiple district president where I will be leading 149 leo clubs belonging to six districts in different geographic regions spreading from Beliatta to Batticolo, at various corners of Sri Lanka. This is a special year where leoism of Sri Lanka reaches it’s 40th anniversary.

Dear Leos, Lions, parents and friends: It’s the movement to empower the youth of today to make them ready for the challenges tomorrow. It’s the movement for growth of leo movement, in quality and quantity to make it grow in to a national youth movement.

I need the support and guidance of each of you to make this year a wonderful year, where the whole multiple will be speaking about the talents of leos of district 306 A2.

“Empower Youth with Leadership”

Leo Sadeepa Ravinath Palliyaguru

Multiple District President – 2009/2010

self MOTIVATED Leos to “reach the unreached”

July 26th, 2009

The word ‘de-motivation’ is not in our dictionary. We can’t afford to be de-motivated because we happen to go through that phase everyday. Waking up late with alarm not working, getting late to catch the bus, assignments late, deadlines almost missed, plus PC is busted with all details not backed up, just when you are about to make an urgent phone call, the mobile is disconnected, you get blasted by your boss for some fault you didn’t do and your friend gets credit for the work you did… and the list goes on…

In a world full of de-motivation, we don’t get to be de-motivated, specially if we happen to be engaged in a volunteer service organization… We Leos should have the enthusiasm to strive for the hype to create that difference will build a life of a less fortunate…

We joined a team to share one common vision of serving the community, sharing the same vision is essential to reach one goal as a team and to reach the unreached as one focus without any individual expectations for the team to go a long way.

There are moments where we have to forgoe certain individual expectations, attitudes and beliefs to work together to give a hand to someone who needs hand… We are motivators who should take the step forward towards people who really need to be motivated…

As Leos there are times we don’t get recognized and appreciated. We need to go back to our focus, look ahead of where we want to be… At the end of the day, we cant expect our team members to praise us on a project we did or thank us for coming to a meeting on time… want our team mates praising us on doing a project right… The recognition and appreciation is way below than the sense of satisfaction we feel of seeing a smile of a kid you’ve reached…

After all the golden rules always comes in handy… you can’t demand respect and recognition… you have to earn it!!!!

A new year with a new beginning with many new faces expected… It’s a year of expectation, happiness, inspirations and hopes which leads to one word “SERVICE”

with the motto “Reach the unreached”

History of Leo Club of Kalubowila

July 22nd, 2009

After a dedicated and successful service of five years, the Lions Club of Kalubowila, under the patronage of president at that period, Lion Gunasekara K. Pathirana, formed the Leo Club of Kalubowila on November 25th, 2001.
Leo Nishan Navarathne as the first club president of Leo Club of Kalubowila, together with the other Leos of the club showed their colours in the first year itself by winning the 1st place as the Best New Club in the district contest in 2001/2002.
With that achievement, the determined Leos of Leo Club of Kalubowila always performed their duties well, as responsible Leos.
Without good leadership, no one will be influenced to cooperate towards some goal. Talking about leadership Leo Club of Kalubowila has always been lucky to have dedicated club presidents and Leo Advisors who worked for the betterment of the club and as well as for the society.
These devoted leaders were:

2001/2002- President – Leo Nishan Navarathne Leo Advisor- Lion Brigadier Mohan Sumanasena
2002/2003 – President- Leo Subash Pinidiyaarachchi
2003/2004- President- Leo Pubudu Kaththotage -Leo Advisor- Lion K.R. Pushparanjan
2004/2005- President- Leo Kevin Abeysekara -Leo Advisor- Lion K.R. Pushparanjan
2005/2006- President- Leo Thilini Jayaweera -Leo Advisor- PDG Lion Kamal Seneviratne MJF
2006/2007- President- Leo Nemisha Mayadunne -Leo Advisor- PDG Lion Kamal Seneviratne MJF
2007/2008- President- Leo Thilini Jayaweera -Leo Advisor- PDG Lion Kamal Seneviratne MJF
2008/2009- President- Leo Marianna Seneviratne -Leo Advisor- Lion Delrusha Seneviratne

Leos of Leo Club of Kalubowila always attempted to serve the community through Leoism. One best example is the project ”Akura.” Necessary items including exercise books, other books, cloths, meals etc. were donated to the needy children and their families in Anuradhapura district.
Children, elders, youngsters, male, female all kinds of needy people in the society were served by the Leo Club of Kalubowila. Not only service projects, Leo Club of Kalubowila had been organising many entertaining projects also for all the Leos in the District. The Pool Tournament in 2005 & the Beach Carnival in 2008 are few of them.

We, Leos of Leo Club of Kalubowila, will always work together to serve the country & will put our continuous effort to prove that we are true Leos….
